This is simply not the case. In fact, happiness is the one common motivation that all human beings share; and to think that happiness cannot be achieved in the pursuit of profit is a limited belief that does not serve the mindset well.

Harry Browne, in his book “The Secret to Selling Anything”, defines profit as “the increase in happiness by replacing one situation for another”. The key here is found in the word “replacing”, as it requires a deliberate and intentional decision to exchange a current value for something that is perceived to be of greater value!

Happiness is not something that has to be deferred. In fact, it begins with a conscious decision to design and live the kind of life that you want. It is possible to build a phenomenal business without sacrificing your family or anyone/anything that you hold in high esteem, and deeply value.

Even more importantly, your employees, prospects, and clients don’t want to defer their happiness either. How successful would your business be if your product/service failed to deliver what they perceived would help them increase their happiness? In fact, if you told them that it wouldn’t deliver their happiness, or they couldn’t increase their happiness through purchasing your product/service, they simply wouldn’t buy it.

Sounds simple enough, though when it comes to the seller (the service provider, the manufacturer), it is perceived that increased happiness is something that must be deferred and experienced at a later time in life. Again, this is simply not true. Yes, building a business is hard work, and the hours are long; though if what you’re doing fails to increase your happiness, the truth is you won’t do it for long. As Browne mentioned, profit itself is the increase in happiness by replacing one situation for another.

If you are finding it difficult to achieve profitability in your business, reevaluate your pursuit and see if it aligns with your profit motive. The notion of happiness deferred could be the thing that’s sabotaging your ability to increase your revenue stream(s), and keeping you feeling stuck where you are with no gravitational pull to the next level.
Happiness is not to be deferred. Happiness is to be chosen and experienced in your personal life and your business. Acknowledge your need for happiness and the fulfillment it brings from helping others achieve their happiness, and live more profitable lives.
Start with being intentional about designing and living the life you want. Then, adopt the necessary means to support it. Don’t defer your happiness another day. Make your next phase your now phase and build the ultimate enterprise![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
